Now, as I am sure you
will be aware, I am no fan of David Cameron but the Eton boy has had
a good couple of weeks. Given his handling of the British press you
would have thought he once worked in PR...... oh now wait. He has
played the UK press like a fiddle and they have rolled over and taken
it like a dog having it's belly tickled.
Firstly there was his
stunt, I said stunt, in Europe, he vetoed something. “Oh yes!”
rang out the right wing press with one voice, “our boy is our boy,...

Media
I know I should stop
look at the Daily Express' website, it's not good for me. I have
stopped going to the Mail's site because, as we all know, that only
exists to drive advertising revenue, Melanie Phillips writes
something offensive, for money, everyone has a look, see how many
page hits we get, we will now charge you more for advertising space.
Anyway, back to the
Express, a paper that “crusades” (there's a word to make a liberal uncomfortable) against moral decline but is
owned by ...

This is the script from today's DORC podcast, if you can't be bothered to read this you can listen to it here.
And so the
rhetoric from people who didn't care last week has started. David Cameron said
it was "disgusting",
Rupert Murdoch went with "deplorable and unacceptable". Ed Milliband
decided to become defender of the people and managed to call for a public enquiry
without repeating the same phrase 5 times in a row. Bo...

At the beginning of this lovely week that
has just gone to wherever it is that time disappears to, I was thinking of
changing the name of my Sunday posts.
The
“Diana Watch” thing stated out as a simple table on my Myspace page (remember
them?) that logged the number of times that the “People’s Princess” mysteriously
appeared on the front of British newspapers every week despite having died some
9 years before.
I
only did this because I found it sort of odd that she (however...
Good news, it's not just the Express that prints pictures of Princess Diana on their front page, sometimes other people do too. Look, here she is on The Times,
I'm in a bit of sports frenzy at the moment what with the World Cup, Wimbledon, Cricket and a Grand Prix this weekend as well. I am barely leaving the house at the moment which is a shame because the weather is lovely.
Depending on when you read this England are about to play Germany or have played Germany in the Wo...

So is it really that bad? Coalition Government I mean not Britain’s Got Talent which we already know is shit.
I was a bit rude about Nick Clegg last week because he had sold out (there is nothing worse then your favourite band’s tunes turning up on an advert) and I still sort of think that but I am willing to give it a bit more time.
The 12 page agreement between to parties was published and, reading through it, (yes I have done that) it’s not that bad. Yes we have had to take a fe...
I don’t want to know that the Tories are back in power, yes it is good for comedy, art and music (especially punk and folk) but for the rest of us, who don’t earn several million pounds a year, it is really bad news. In order to counter act this slight set back in my life I will be approaching the following few years thus,
The only harm will be a slightly soar back and some sand in the ears, although I might get shafted and not know who it was, at least you lot will see them coming...

There really is only one story that I want to talk about
this week. It is one of the most talked about and life changing events of the
week (well in our house anyway). It could alter the way we live our lives for
years to come. If we do not act now, history will judge us to have failed.
As of July a Scrabble
rule change will mean
that you are allowed to use proper nouns! You will be able to put company names
and the names of ce...

He was 10 when it happened! Did we ever ask why it happened or did we just charge a 10 year old with murder and then, when encouraged by the media to light the torches and dust off our pitch forks, forget how old he was? Yes, he is now 27 but this is not the same person that killed a child 17 years ago. Are you, screaming idiots, the same person that you were when you were 10? I’m not, well I still like Dr who and nature documentaries, but apart from that I’ve changed quite a bit and I as...

Today’s opening question is, how many of you met a Minister
of State this week? Come on be honest, did you? No, of course you didn’t. I,
however, met Andy Burnham, Minister for Health, my ultimate boss. He seemed
like quite a nice bloke. Slightly ill-fitting suit though.
I did ask on twitter
if anyone had any questions for him and I received a few suggestions, most of
which were appropriate, one was less so. Unfortunately my b...

I seem to be the luckiest person in the world.
Last year I was chosen to help a Kenyan Prince to help him transfer his money
out of the country (small fee to me) and now this,

If you were
watching the Television on Saturday night and managed to drag yourself away from
“So You Think You Can Dance” or “Take Me Out” you might have been watching
BBC2. If you were you would have seen a program about the election campaign of
who is now President but was then Senator Obama. It’s called “By The People”
and it may still be on the Iplayer.

Well, it’s been a great week for Gordon Brown and Labour so far. He had a great PMQ’s and David Cameron seemed not to know or understand what his party’s policy was what they wanted the tax situation of Married people to be or if it was indeed a policy or an aspiration. A good week, indeed. All was well and good and nothing bad happened at all. Nothing happened at all. Yes, yes I do have sand in my ears, why do you ask? What’s that you say, pretty much the least popular Health Ministe... Continue reading ...

Oh, I've done something a little rash. I am a
fan of a podcast called the Pod
Delusion and I thought it might be nice to get involved. So I sent in an
MP3 and I am on next week’s episode. Now this is a nice thing, someone else
thinks that the piece I did was funny, but I've just seen the running order for
next week. Oh my, there are some serious topics and some serious people on
there and I'm not one of them. Suddenly I'm n...
