Obama and Cameron: A Love Story

David Cameron is in
Washington to meet President Obama in order to make him feel
important, perhaps Mr Cameron could ask the President how they have
created so many jobs over there where as our unemployment is still
rising (here's a hint, they went for an economic stimulus rather than
austerity and spending cuts).
Anyway, some rather
lovely pictures of the 2 of them have been released and, apart from
being an absolute success for the out of sight officials, both men
are equal in every way ... Continue reading ...

I know I should stop
look at the Daily Express' website, it's not good for me. I have
stopped going to the Mail's site because, as we all know, that only
exists to drive advertising revenue, Melanie Phillips writes
something offensive, for money, everyone has a look, see how many
page hits we get, we will now charge you more for advertising space.
Anyway, back to the
Express, a paper that “crusades” (there's a word to make a liberal uncomfortable) against moral decline but is
owned by ... Continue reading ...
Some Of The Players Seem Familiar.

I know that I am not the first person to say that Rebekah Brooks looks like Side-Show Bob from the Simpsons but it's not just the hair there are other similarities, their self belief, surprising large feet and they both want to kill children.

But can we extend this further? Can we involve other players from the News International/News of the World Drama? I think we can. Human punch bag and seemingly unrepentant former NotW Paul McMullan, for instance, reminds me of Gill Gunderson. Not just the... Continue reading ...
War on Drugs Has Been "Hugely Successful" Claim Columbian Narcos

The global war on drugs has been “remarkable successful” according to a new report by a group of South American politicians (all of whom deny any links with the drugs trade, honest) and Afghan Police (ditto).
Their report makes the point that the anti-drug policy has succeeded by fuelling organised crime, costing taxpayers millions of dollars and causing thousands of deaths.
They highlight UN estimates that opiate use increased 35% worldwide from 1998 to 2008, cocaine by 27% and cannabi... Continue reading ...

This is the script for a piece that appears in today's Pod Delusion podcast.
I wrote a blog post a while ago about why I dislike the concept of
“guilty pleasures”. In it I said that if you are describing to a psychiatrist,
whilst you are detained in a secure mental hospital how, after murdering
someone, you masturbate like a horny monkey thinking about what you have done,
then that could quite legitimately be described as a “guilty pleasure”, liking
a 3 minute pop song by Boney M, le... Continue reading ...

Conspiracy theories used to the preserve of the deepest corners of the interwebs, being “discussed” on message boards that you really had to look very hard to find. It used to be all Aliens and the Elders of Zion (which has been shown over and over again (particularly well in David Aaronovitch's book Voodoo Histories might I add) to based on a work of fiction, it's not true, the Jews did not and do not have a plan to take over/control the world) but since the 60's has been a growing movem... Does This Prove It?

You have to love the
Daily Express, no really you do (if you can get past the xenophobia
and barely concealed racism obviously) because they exist completely
within their own universe. It is possible that the existence of the
this “paper” goes some way to prove the theory of multiple
universes.
It is thought that
these “extra” dimensions may be as close as just a few
millimetres away but we can't perceive them however if you look at
the leaps of logic and connections that the Expr... Continue reading ...
A Letter to the BBC

Dear the BBC,
I am
writing to you today to say how much I am enjoying the BBC2 series
“Wonders of the Universe” and how I think that the music is at
just the right level.
I have not written to
you before on this subject because I was unaware that, as just one
person, you would listen to what I had to say but it seems that I was
wrong, hence this letter.
It has come to my
attention that, at the time of writing, about 118
people have complained about the music for this excellen... Continue reading ...
Were The Forests Ever Really in Danger?

Good news! The forests
are safe! For the time being anyway. The Government's plans to sell
off the family silver has been dealt a massive blow by an outpouring
of anger from the people over it's “and now let's sell the forests”
plan and they have been forced into a humiliating U-turn/climb down
(the second option is funnier as it's a story about trees) or so the
left wing press narrative goes.
The other version of
this story, the one presented by our Government and their tiny band

for being sexist idiots (oh and if the BNP

this is good.
A

Also good.

Dear Melanie Phillips,
Hello, how are you this morning? I would imagine you are having a
nice cup of ENGLISH breakfast tea (with milk obviously) and a small
bowl of Kellogg's Cornflakes with extra dullness in order definitely,
definitely quash any of “those thoughts”.
Then I think you would open your email, maybe sift through a few
press releases (which you will only half read) and then a quick flick
though the morning papers and when I say “papers” I me... Continue reading ...

"Jo's life was cut
short tragically but the finger-pointing and character assassination by social
and news media of as yet innocent men has been shameful. It has made me lose a lot of faith in the
morality of the British press and those that spend their time fixed to the
internet in this modern age.
I hope in the future they will show a more
sensitive and impartial view to those involved in such heart-breaking events

Ah, context free numbers in headlines, what fun you are.
“My, that seems like an awfully big number, will it be compared to something else so that I can get a sense of scale? No, it seems it won’t but as it a large number referring to something I don’t like I shall be offended/outraged/disgusted (delete as appropriate or maybe choose all 3) anyway.”
This is an example of the internal monologue from a reader of this morning’s Daily Express. Obviously I missed out all the bits about... Continue reading ...
