Allotment 1/5/11

I have had an idea. Usually I don't have them so I want to show off a bit, oh and by the way I am in no way saying that it is a good idea but it is an idea and that is what is important.

So I have been doing a little Guerilla Gardening in a small area near my house as I have mentioned before and it is starting to look really very nice indeed. I have just planted some Aquilegia that will be up soon and my mother gave us one for Easter that looks a bit like this,

Allotment 3/4/11

People get very obsessive about compost and the making there of, I am not one of them. However that does not mean that I don't do it, I just don't take it that seriously. You can spend a lot of money on some rather over the top compost bins,

the Onyx Compost Tumbler for instance, reduced from $655 to $327 which is still a lot in proper money or the Aerobin Composter for £259.99,

Allotment 8/3/10

The sun has remained visible so I have continued to get things into the ground. I’ve been removing stones from the soil and adding my own compost. It all looks lovely. The problem is you have nothing to show for all of your work except for some lovely bare soil.

Here for instance are my carrots,

And here are my parsnips,

And today I put my onions.

Allotment 5/8/09

Well, some good news is that it stopped raining and my onions have started to dry out. Went down late this afternoon and turned them over. This may not sound like much but it has spent the last 36 hours throwing it down with rain, so to start to get any drying is an upside.

The river is suddenly filled with thousands of gallons of muddy water that wasn't there on Monday.

The ducks look a little startled and I can't see the fish to judge their mood from their facial expression...

Allotment 4/8/09

I will try and blog about the allotment as much as I can but, to be honest, not that much happens from week to week.

Yesterday I lifted potatoes from the potato bags and and my onions.
My potato crop was a little poor but Significant Other and I don't that many so hopefully they will last us for a while. We are storing them in hessian bags which I have attached to the wall, see

With onions you have to lift them out of the ground and then leave them on the surface to dry for a couple of days.U...
