Hello my allotment blog reading friends. Sorry I haven't written much lately but not that much is going on. Nothing is growing very much and what is there I have already talked about. I did plant my Garlic for next year in, what is now, my garlic bed. I would show you a picture but who wants to see a picture of several square feet of bare earth. About 80 little gloves are sitting just below the surface ready to spring forth with lovely, thick green shoots that are really garlicky when you eat them. I'm told that to get the bulbs to divide into nice gloves they need a good frost on them, Well there is only one way to find out. Now, I'm pretty sure you know what these are, Photobucket Yes, they are grapes. If you didn't get that right then I ban you from reading this blog ever again. The fact that they are grapes is not that interesting but the fact that they were grown on the front of my Parents-in-law's house in Kent and that they are sweet and lovely, is. This is the first year that they vine has done really well. It seems that the late September sun did a fine job in ripening them. Significant Other and her sister picked about 30 bunches off of the plant. The shame is that my Father-in-law didn't live long enough to see his beloved grape vine fruit in such a fine way.
