Yesterday was a good day for me. Firstly I got my hands on 3
more asparagus plants to finish off the bed. More importantly than that that
though, although I may not think that come the spring and lovely asparagus shoots
break the surface of the soil, I went to the council buildings with my friend
and officially became an allotment holder.
I have been
subletting from a colleague of mine for about 4 years now and I’ve been taking
a little bit more ground each year. I have been on the waiting list for about 5
years and have finally made it to the top of that list. My friend has decided
that she is going to emigrate (she will be taking her family with her I told)
so she asked the allotment office if I could take over and they said yes, which
was nice.
So yesterday we went
in to the office for the official hand over. My Lord that was some fussing. 3 signatures
were required. It’s only a scruffy bit of land. I needed less signing when I
took out a mortgage but hey ho, it’s all mine now.
Well, when I say all mine, that is a bit of a lie as she
isn’t going until May next year but after that it will all be mine. Do I sound
like a Bond villain?
